Also known as "Indwelling Catheters," Foley Catheters are used to drain urine from the bladder in the occurrence of infection, swollen prostate, bladder stones, or in the case of urinary retention or urinary incontinence. Each Foley Catheter is designed with the capability to be left in place for either a short or long period of time.
Each of these catheter types has a balloon at the end that's filled with sterile water to keep the catheter in place. Always make sure to wash your hands and clean all areas before and after use - to reduce and avoid the risk of infection through the spreading of bacteria and cross contaminants.
Make sure to consult your Doctor to determine whether Self-Catheterization is right for you. You should always follow your Doctor's instructions on "Plan of Care" and "Frequency of Use" when using catheter and urological supplies.
Contact Medical Direct Club or your Doctor for further questions about Foley Catheters.
