There is a variety of factors and/or conditions that can put you at risk for a UTI. By understanding these risks, you may be able to decrease your chances of getting a urinary tract infection. The following factors place you at a higher risk:

  • Patients with Immune System Disorders (ISDs)
  • Critically ill patients
  • If you take a round of antibiotics for another condition
  • Some forms of Birth Control
  • Kidney Stones
  • Problems with voiding urine
  • Having abnormalities of the Urinary Tract
  • An enlarged Prostate

If you feel you are at risk for a Urinary Tract Infection, or are experiencing common UTI symptoms, be sure to contact your doctor. If left untreated, UTIs can either worsen or spread to other areas of the body.
